3 Tips For Keeping Your Frameless Shower Doors Clean And Crystal Clear

Posted on

Frameless shower doors can easily change the look of your entire bathroom for the better. In fact, these doors can even make a small bathroom appear larger. However, these aesthetic benefits strongly rely on your ability to keep your new glass doors clean and crystal clear. Thankfully, accomplishing this task can be much easier than you may imagine when using the three tips outlined below.

Tip #1: Apply A Water-Resistant Barrier

Applying a water-resistant coating to your frameless shower doors can help you to avoid hard water spots and mineral deposits that can make your glass look cloudy or even leave permanent etchings in the glass. These products are very easy to apply, however, you will need to make sure that none of the product is allowed to get on your shower tiles or tub as this can result in a very slippery surface. The best way to accomplish this is to take the time to completely cover the rest of your shower with plastic sheeting before applying the product to your glass doors. If you are struggling to find this type of product at your local home improvement store, try looking in the automotive section as these products are commonly used on car windshields as well in order to repel rainwater.

Tip #2: Consider Switching From Bar Soap To Liquid Soap

One of the biggest problems that many people encounter when it comes to keeping their frameless shower doors clean is soap scum. Not only can soap scum be unsightly, but it can also be difficult to remove. One easy way to avoid this problem is to switch from bar soaps to liquid soaps. This is because it is the talc that is found in bar soaps that is responsible for the creation of soap scum. Liquid soaps do not contain talc and therefore will not result in soap scum.

Tip #3: Spray Your Shower Doors With Basic Homemade Cleaner After Each Shower

Taking just a few seconds after each shower to complete a very basic cleaning can help you to avoid spending much longer scrubbing your shower doors after allowing dirt and grime to build upon them over time. The first thing you will need to do is to mix equal parts of water and white vinegar in a spray bottle. This basic homemade cleaner should be kept in your bathroom where it can be easily accessed after each shower. Simply spray the glass with this cleaner after each time you shower. Simply wipe off any excess cleaner with a microfiber cloth or a squeegee and the job will be complete.
